Summerlee Science Festival is back!

We’re inviting families to explore, experiment and discover at the Summerlee Science Festival 2026, taking place from Friday 13 to Wednesday 18 February. 

The week-long festival will feature a packed programme of interactive shows, hands-on workshops and free drop-in activities, designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in visitors of all ages. 

Ticketed highlights include: 

  • Little Lab Investigators (ages 3–8), exploring static electricity with exciting demonstrations 
  • Think Science, a high-energy show packed with surprising facts and unforgettable experiments 
  • Animal Man’s Mini-Zoo, offering close encounters with animals, reptiles and insects 
  • STEM with Mr N., featuring family-friendly demonstrations from an award-winning STEM educator 
  • Silly Science, a messy, hands-on experience with slime, polymers and chemical reactions 

Tickets for shows are £5 per person, with advance online booking recommended. Some tickets will be held for on-the-day availability. 

Alongside the ticketed programme, the festival offers a wide range of free drop-in activities running daily between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm, including: 

  • Fun Science hands-on experiments 
  • Glasgow Science Centre on Tour: BodyVision 
  • Light Lab with artist Kenny Bean and the Institute of Physics 
  • Test Your Headphones hearing health activity 
  • The Upstairs Science Fair, featuring activities from Summerlee staff, universities and local organisations 

A special Little Science Festival for under-5s takes place on Friday 13 February, including a science-themed Bookbug session and hands-on activities for younger children. 

Most shows last approximately one hour and are suitable for all ages, unless otherwise stated.
