There’s always something exciting to discover at Summerlee Museum — where history comes alive across 20 acres of indoor and outdoor space. What will you explore first?

We’re open 7 days a week and offer free entry. Perfect for family fun!

Climb, slide and play in the adventure park, wander through Miners Row to step into the past, or uncover the incredible story of Lanarkshire’s industrial heritage. With so much to see and do, every visit is a new adventure.

No booking is needed unless you’re visiting as a group of 10+ or with a school. If so, give us a call on 01236 638460 and we’ll be happy to help

Cafe & Picnic Areas

Summerlee Cafe is located next to the exhibition hall, offering delicious breakfast and lunch options. We also offer picnic benches and areas for visitors to enjoy their own food.

Plan your visit

We’re really easy to reach — and if you travel by train, bus, bike or on foot, you’ll even enjoy 10% off in our sweet shop!

  • Just a 10-minute walk from Coatbridge’s train and bus stops
  • Direct trains from: Glasgow (25 mins), Edinburgh (55 mins), Dumbarton (50 mins)
  • Direct buses from: Glasgow, Livingston, East Kilbride and more
  • On National Cycle Route 75, with bike racks at both entrances (bikes can’t be ridden inside the museum gates)

Prefer to drive? There is parking a short walk from the museum:

  • Baird Street Car Park (ML5 3DH)
  • Time Capsule (ML5 1DL)

We have a small car park on site including limited disabled parking (6 spaces).

  • Bikes, scooters and skateboards cannot be used inside the museum grounds. (6 spaces).
  • Fishing in the canal is not permitted.
  • Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Assistance dogs only.
