Fridays 5th & 26th June – 6 – 8pm each Friday (must attend both sessions) – Age 16yrs+ – Discover the magic of contemporary ceramics in this exciting Microwave Raku workshop, led by experienced Ceramic Artform Tutor Martin Govan. Across two hands‑on sessions, Martin will guide participants through the full creative process, from making to firing.
In the first workshop, you’ll create small ceramic pieces using specialist Raku clay, with clear demonstrations and expert advice on shaping and finishing work ready for firing. The second session focuses on surface decoration, where you’ll explore Raku glazes through dipping or brush application.
To complete the process, finished pieces are fired in a small microwave kiln, revealing striking lustrous, coppery effects unique to the Raku technique. This inspiring workshop is ideal for anyone curious about experimental ceramics and fire‑based processes, whether new to clay or looking to expand their practice. Reminder to wear messy clothes, although aprons are provided
